Erica Durance is a Canadian actress who is the daughter of librarian, Gail and truck driver, Joel. She is the youngest of the three children and has an older brother and an older sister. She was raised on a turkey farm along with her siblings. Soon after graduating from high school, Erica moved to Vancouver, to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. She is a trained singer who loves singing. She has a phobia about water and birds. Erica married her first husband Wes Parker in 1996, only to divorce him three years later in 1999. Eight years later, in January 2005, she married actor David Palffy, who was also her acting coach. The couple as yet does not have any children together, but Erica enjoys being the step-mom of Palffy’s son from an earlier marriage. The two share a cozy relationship and Erica is keen about having her own children someday.

Erica started her career in the entertainment industry by doing background work, then moved on to do commercials and later started doing guest roles until she was finally able to get some substantial roles. Erica has acted in twelve television shows and four movies. On television she has been seen in shows like The Chris Isaak Show, Tru Calling, Andromeda, Stargate SG-1, I Me Wed, Robin Hood: Beyond Sherwood and Smallville in which she can be seen playing the role of Lois Lane. She has acted in the movies The Untold, House of the Dead and The Bridge, while her movie Sleeping With the Lion has recently been announced. She has also performed in the soundtrack of the series Smallville besides appearing as herself on shows like Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Access Hollywood, Howard Stern and The Bonnie Hunt Show etc. She has been nominated for two Saturn Awards and one Gemini Award.

Role In Smallville

In Smallville, she plays the role of Lois Lane. Initially she arrived in Smallville to investigate the supposed death of her cousin Chloe. Although the character of Lois Lane has been traditionally seen to be romantically involved with Clark Kent in all Superman comics and films, Smallville has bend the tradition by making her a friend of Clark rather than his love interest. However, with the departure of Lana Lang in the beginning of the eighth season, there are speculations that finally Clark will fall for Lois.
