Tom Wellings is an American actor and director, who was born into a family of six members. His father is a retired executive of General Motors while his mother is a housewife. He has two elder sisters named Rebecca and Jamie and one younger brother named Mark, who is also an actor. He spent his childhood in different towns as his father’s job required the family to relocate quite often, until they finally settled in Okemos, Michigan. He completed his high school education from Okemos High School. He was an active player of basketball and baseball besides being a third string soccer goalkeeper in his school. After completing his high school, Tom worked in construction service site, as he wanted to be a construction worker. He later moved to Los Angeles in 2000, where he worked as a fashion model for the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch and Calvin Klein etc. In July 2002 he married one of his closest friends, Jamie White and the couple lives in Los Angeles although Tom often relocates to Vancouver to keep up with his professional commitments. Tom likes to spend his free time by hanging out with wife Jamie or reading a good book.

Tom’s started his acting career in the year 2000, when he appeared in some commercials and a music video. He then went on to act in the shows Judging Amy, Special Unit 2, Undeclared and Smallville, where he plays the lead role of Clark Kent. Tom had turned down the role twice before finally accepting to play the young Superman. He has also acted in the movies Cheaper by Dozen, The Fog and Cheaper by Dozen 2. In addition, he has also directed a few episodes of the series, Smallville. Tom has appeared as himself on shows like Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Last Call with Carson Daly, E! News Daily, The View and Extra etc. During his very short career till now, Tom has been nominated for five Saturn Awards and Eight Teen Choice Awards. In 2002, he won the Teen Choice Award for TV - Choice Breakout Star, Male, for his role in Smallville.

In Smallville, he plays the role of young Clark Kent. Clark is a teenager and the adopted son of Jonathan and Martha Kent, who found him in a spaceship that crashed during a meteor rock shower. Young Clark faces an identity struggle after he learns that he is an alien and tries to get used to his superpowers as they are revealed to him one by one. Guided by his foster parents, Clark uses these powers to help fight villains who threaten humanity, while at the same time ensuring that people do not come to know about his secrets of origin as well as having superpowers.
